MismetvisUnder water photographer Dos Winkel has fought the cause for the fish for many years. In his book titled “what’s wrong with fish?” he explains the risks of eating fish for humans and the environment. Most of the quotes below are taken from his book, which you can order here – it would make a nice gift!

With this project, we aim to do more than just cleaning up. We want to use our recognition to contribute to healthier oceans.

75% of the fish is caught in too high volumes to be sustainable. 90% of sharks have become extinct in just 50 years. 83% of coral reefs have been destroyed. Only 10% of mangroves on the entire planet are still available as a breeding place for aquatic life.

Indirectly, anyone can contribute to our cause by being conscious about the fish they eat. Here’s some top tips:

  • Look for fish from a sustainable source
  • eat fish that is not threatened with extinction
  • find fish that is not polluted
  • You could also use algae oil tablets to top up your Omega 3 and 6.
